Change Support Team

Our project teams are experienced clinicians, programme directors, project managers, strategists and analysts. Many of our staff have worked at a senior level within the NHS, voluntary and the private sector. They are all leaders in finding innovative solutions to difficult challenges facing the NHS. We also understand that pace matters.

We are very happy to have an initial discussion to understand your needs and subsequently get back to you quickly with an outline of how we might approach the work and a fee estimate in order that decisions can be made promptly.

We utilise the skills and experience across all the HIN workforce depending upon the scope of the commissioned work. However, below is an outline of our key change support staff, their specialities and experiences.

Lesley Soden, Head of Innovation

Lesley leads HIN’s change support function. She has over 20 years’ experience in the NHS and the public sector. She has worked in senior business & strategy roles in mental health and community Trusts involving community engagement, programme management, business development, bid writing and service re-design, all delivered in collaboration with a variety of partnerships. HIN would be happy to discuss change support opportunities with its South London members.

Breid O’Brien, Director of Digital Transformation

Breid leads HIN’s digital consultancy function. She has extensive improvement and digital transformation experience supported by a clinical and operational management background in acute care within the UK and Australia. She has supported major system level change and has a strong track record of delivering complex programmes of work whilst supporting collaboration across varied teams and organisations. With a Masters in Nursing, an MSc in Healthcare Informatics and as an IHI improvement Advisor, Breid is especially interested in the people, process and technology interface.

Denis Duignan, Head of Technology, Technology Team

Denis leads HIN’s technology function. He graduated as a biomedical engineer in Ireland and worked for a medical devices supplier before joining the NHS Scientist Training Programme and becoming a registered clinical scientist working within Guy’s & St Thomas’ medical physics department as a medical device specialist. Since then Denis has undertaken a Darzi Fellowship within NHS England where he worked on improving cancer diagnostic pathways and currently leads the Technology team at the HIN, providing technical knowledge and expertise around medical software and hardware development, deployment and governance, ICT and change management.

Andrew Walker, Deputy Clinical Director, Musculoskeletal (MSK) programme

Andrew contributes to HIN’s evaluation function. Andrew is a Deputy Clinical Director for the HIN’s MSK programme and leads our evaluation function. He is a physiotherapist with a PhD in implementation science from the University of London and a Masters in Clinical Research (funded by the NIHR). His work focuses on supporting the spread, adoption and evaluation of evidence-based innovations in healthcare, particularly for musculoskeletal conditions. Andrew edits the UK Implementation Society’s quarterly publication Implementation Knowledge and News and the biannual professional journal Balance Focus. Prior to becoming a physiotherapist, Andrew worked in policy research and development for the UK Government and as a consultant.

Fay Sibley, Deputy Clinical Director, Musculoskeletal (MSK) programme

Fay contributes to HIN’s evaluation function. Her work with the HIN focuses primarily on helping people with Musculoskeletal conditions self-manage their condition, through programmes such as ESCAPE-pain and Joint Pain Advice. This involves working across a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings. Additionally, Fay oversees the national training programme for ESCAPE-pain and is currently leading a pilot for people with chronic non-specific low back pain. Fay also works with the Healthy Ageing team where her work focuses on helping people to live healthier lives and remain independent for longer.  She has undertaken a number of commissioned projects, most notably a Social Prescribing project in South London.

Fay joined the team permanently in September 2016 after completing a secondment as a Darzi Fellow in 2015/2016 and obtaining PGDip in Healthcare Leadership. She then went on to complete a MSc in Healthcare Leadership at King’s College London. Fay joined the HIN from London Ambulance Service where she was employed as Paramedic team leader. Prior to working as a paramedic, Fay trained as a Physiotherapist.
